Looking Forward to Life

As a kid you have so many things to look forward to.  Things that will surely come to pass:  new school years, new friends, new discoveries, drinking (maybe experimenting with drugs), clubbing, dancing, new school courses to take, school dances, sports, prom, falling in love, kissing, sex, dating, getting a girlfriend, boyfriend, getting a car, graduating from highschool, going to college, getting a job, finding a career, going to graduate school, getting married, having kids, buying a house…

The Wanting for Knowledge and Knowing

Been thinking about the idea of why we desire to learn. Why we are motivated to try to understand things. Beyond the normal human survival reasons (which can be a rational and conclusive explanation in and of itself – without getting into anything metaphysical) there may be another reason. The desire to learn, to know is the same reason why we wish to “connect” with others and everything around us. Learning and knowing is part of the process of becoming “one” again. Becoming what we were before. Trying to go back to who we were before we were born. The why of this exercise is still a mystery. But obviously we were omnscient. And by learning and knowing, we are rebecoming who we were.
